Cooking & Nutrition Classes
In our cooking and nutrition classes, young chefs will learn introductory kitchen skills while using fresh, local ingredients to make healthy snacks they can easily replicate at home. These classes are a perfect introduction to a lifelong love of nutritious, fun, and healthy eating!
Kids will leave each class with an understanding of why eating a variety of healthy foods is vital for a healthy mind, body, and spirit. They’ll gain self-confidence and creativity in the kitchen, and practice social emotional skills through partner and work. And when they make a recipe themselves, they’ll find pride in their final product. Even the pickiest of eaters can find something they love.
Students we will also participate in fun, interactive nutrition-themed activities that help teach:
• Kitchen literacy skills
• Math skills through measurement and conversions
• Lifelong knife skills as well as other kitchen skills
• Collaboration and problem solving with other students
Cooking apron, fresh ingredients, kitchen tools, and take-home recipes for our nourishing nibbles are provided in each class.
Cooking and nutrition classes can be taught in the following ways:
• After-school class
• School day class (weekly or monthly)
• Special event at your school
• Special event in your community
• Private in-home event
Cooking Lesson
Roxanne leads kids through making a simple, delicious, healthy breakfast of “Berry Overnight Oatmeal.” Limited materials and ingredients needed and can be made in about five or 10 minutes. This is the perfect recipe for parents to help younger children with or for older children to do independently.
